At Translator Linguify AI, we believe advanced technology should never compromise your personal privacy. Our extension is built with a strict privacy-first design: we do not track, profile, or sell your data.

1. Data Collection & Usage

Linguify AI is designed to operate with a minimal data footprint.

A. Personal Information

We do not collect, store or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII), including:

• Names, email addresses, or contact details
• Browser history or search queries
• Physical location or IP addresses

B. Translation Content

• Processing only: Text selected for translation is securely sent to the translation service (Microsoft Translator or Google Translation API) for processing.
• No retention by extension: We do not store, log or analyze translated content in persistent storage. The translation exists only in your browser session unless the page itself stores it.

C. Technical Preferences

The extension stores local settings using Chrome sync storage:

• Source and target language preferences (sl, tl)
• Interface theme (theme)
• Auto-translation toggle state (autoTranslate)
• Preserve layout toggle state (preserveLayout)
• Overlay mode toggle state (overlayMode)

2. Permission Justifications

• storage 8 to remember language and theme preferences across devices.
• Host permissions (<all_urls>) 8 to run the content script and detect text on visited web pages for translation.

3. Third-Party Services

• Microsoft Translator API / Google Translation API: Text may be sent to these services for processing. Their data handling is governed by their respective privacy policies.

4. Security & User Control

• Encryption: All network communication is protected by standard SSL/TLS.
• User control: Clear extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing Chrome storage.
• The extension does not create cookies or IndexedDB entries on its own.
